****whatever you do ….DO NOT “BOMB” ****
Professional Pest Operators (like US) Charge a lot for Bed Bug treatment….DUH…. Providing the treatment is a dirty-nasty job, and finding good technicians to do the work is tough. The temptation is to DO-IT-YOURSELF with some “bug spray” that can be found at most any store. Here are two very important facts to consider before you try ANYTHING.
1) Bed bugs like to hide deep in cracks & crevices, folds of fabric, and bed frames & nearby furniture - in order to be effective, a pesticide application has to reach them where they rest. Most over the counter sprays are not designed to PENETRATE the cracks where the bugs are hiding. So it may be a waste of money & time to spray the surfaces - the bugs aren’t there…. (then you’re left with a smelly, oily mess to clean up)
2) BUG BOMBS ARE NOT GOING TO WORK – ...because the bug is so deeply hidden, the fumes of the bomb will not get to them in high enough concentration to be effective. Worse – the bug most likely will be repelled by what little fumes it senses to move DEEPER into the walls, under the carpets, behind the drywall/paneling and rest safely there until the air clears – only to return. Save your money – use your time & effort to DEEP CLEAN the area where you suspect the bugs are hiding. Wherever possible - use PAINT – to seal the cracks in the drywall, furniture, baseboard…..seal them out…. The more often you launder, clean the bed frame & nearby furniture, the less likely the bugs will find safe harbor there.
